Protective effects of CAPE against testicular damage in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the protective effect CAPE on oxidative stress and apoptosis against streptozotocin (STZ)-induced damage in rat testis after diabetes. Materials methods: rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: Control animals, animals given CAPE, STZ-induced diabetic CAPE. Diabetes induced by a single intraperitoneal injection STZ (55 mg/kg). Testicular examined using hematoxylin eosin staining determined Caspase-3. Potential disorders associated with seminiferous tubular sperm formation evaluated Johnsen score tubule diameters measured Leica Q Win Plus Image Analysis System. Results: Diabetic showed an increase degenerated germ cells along decrease diameter. Also, Caspase-3 positive significantly increased compared control rats. On other hand, reduced cell testis. In tissues samples. treatment decreased elevated tissue malondialdehyde levels, while increasing superoxide dismutase enzyme activity. Conclusion: These results suggest that administered intraperitoneally for 20 days is potentially beneficial agent can be used reduce testicular damage.
